Mall Ambience and Furniture Concept Design: Tenanci

Tenanci were asked to provide a Mall Ambience and Furniture concept design package for the Pop Up Mall at Castletown, Townsville.
They say first impressions count and this is certainly true when it comes to a retail mall. We want people to instantly connect with the space, to understand the purpose and to engage with the retailers.
This concept aims to create drama by emphasising the ceiling detail, whilst creating a sense of warmth and comfort through styling. Delivering a memorable space that makes customers feel relaxed and at home.
Drawing inspiration from Townsville’s beach environment and culture the colour palette incorporates soft coastal blues, greens, grey and neutrals with a pop of mustard yellow and coral. Materials and finishes are textural and of a small scale, reflecting those found in any beach house in Australia.
A floral mural artwork, hanging plants and pendant lights anchor the main pop up mall and fill it with life. The layout aims to balance functionality and aesthetics while maximising retail opportunities. Organic forms and soft corners help direct traffic flow and soften the space. Planting provides a sense of life and lighting is used to highlight the key architectural elements throughout the space.
